What a Scrum Master should do in the Daily Scrum as know as Standup?

Well Daily Scrum is a ceremony from Developers to Developers so what the Scrum Master have to do with it?

To answer those question we can refer to the Scrum Guide and understand what is the Daily Scrum first.

In sort:

The Daily Scrum is a 15-minute event for the Developers of the Scrum Team.
Focuses on progress toward the Sprint Goal and produces an actionable plan for the next day of work.

Scrum Master does not have to participate in this ceremony but the Scrum Master function is to make sure that the ceremony is productive.

For the teams that are new to Scrum the Scrum Master could coach the team showing some techniques and let the team experiment what works best for them.

Before in the Scrum Guide we had 3 questions that the team should use in the Daily Scrum and they still very relevant nowadays and that can help the team to understand what the Daily Scrum is about and improve on top of it:

What did you do yesterday?
What will you do today?
Are there any impediments in your way?

In a nutshell Scrum Master should not run the Daily Scrum or ask the questions but coach the team to be the ones who drives it to get the best of that 15 minutes.
